2001-2021, 20 years already that the NGO ANGE was created with the mission of promoting and defending the rights of children in Togo. The first General Assembly of the association was held on July 25, 2001, in the presence of the actors who were and still are involved in ANGE's work with children. 20 years after the beginning of this marvellous adventure, we want to solemnly mark the celebration through various activities that will take place throughout the year.
On May 13, 2021, a mass of thanksgiving will be held at the Sacré-Coeur Junior parish in Lomé Tokoin, followed by a cocktail party at the NGO's headquarters, which will mark the official launch of the festivities. After this launch, a work camp and a summer camp will follow, which will be dedicated to the commemoration of the 20 years in July at Tchékpo Dédékpoe.
Friends for a New Generation of Children, A.N.G.E., is a non-profit association under the French law of 1901, whose objective is to defend and promote the rights and interests of street children and those in conflict with the law. It was created in 2001, through the initiative of a Youth Counselor, Gabriel Kossi AMOUZOU, its current director.
ANGE's mission is the recovery, the care and the socio-professional reintegration of street children, in conflict with the law, victims of abuse or trafficking. The children are taken care of, schooled or in training. Particular attention is paid to finding the families, reintegrating the children into their families and working with them so that the children do not return to the street. With a team of about twenty professionals, ANGE works in partnership with the General Directorate of Child Protection (DGPE) of Togo, UNICEF, FONDACIO, RESAEV Togo and RELUTET.
To date, ANGE is implementing 05 different projects in the fields of protection and promotion of children and youth rights, care, support, reintegration and also in the field of sustainable development.
These 5 poles of action are : The reception center "Dans la maison de mon père", The reception center "Monrefuge", The street project, The project of the brigade for minors and The development program in Tchékpo Dédékpoe.
Since its creation in 2001, more than 1500 children have been reintegrated into their families by ANGE. Each year, about 900 children are taken care of and monitored regularly, at least 400 of whom attend school. The two reception and transit centers in Lomé and Kpomé accommodate an average of 100 children taken in from the street and the juvenile brigade every year.
ANGE's vision is to contribute to a new generation where all children are fulfilled, equal and enjoy all their rights. Today, the Covid-19 pandemic seems to slow down the means deployed until now in the protection of children. Therefore, the strategic orientations of the NGO ANGE for the next three years are to adapt and strengthen the protection mechanisms in this particular context of Covid-19. ANGE also wants to pursue prevention in the street and especially in the communities by involving parents in the fight. The promotion of gender and sustainable development in the communities is part of ANGE's perspectives.
