  • spiritual activities,
  • Youth Forum,

  • Commitment Celebrations,
  • pastoral sessions,
  • Participation in JMJ and JMN,
  • Participation in congresses,
  • Reception of missions at headquarters,
  • Coordination
  • Welcoming volunteers, …

In addition, several development projects are also carried out in Burkina Faso. ( EPMO Tambiga and LPJ )

Our actions in Burkina Faso

LPJ : since 2008, the Lycée pour la Promotion des Jeunes (LPJ) has pursued its educational mission in Fada N’Gourma, the capital of the Eastern Region of Burkina Faso. It wants to offer young people effective training, make them the citizens of tomorrow and promote the development of human society. It offers college and BEPC preparation courses, both day classes (LPJ) and evening classes (EPJ) for young people and adults who have dropped out of school.

EPMO Tambiga : The Macy Ountani Primary School (EPMO) is a private school run by Fondacio Burkina which is located in the bush, in the village of Tambiga, about 30 km south of Fada N’Gourma. It allows children in the region to attend primary school, even if the nearest public school is more than 5 km away.

The village of Tambiga is marked by pastoral and agricultural activity where the habit of sending children to school is not yet well established. The presence of EPMO is therefore essential, especially since the good results have made its reputation over the years.

IFF Africa wants to be a “talent revealer” at the service of a more humane world.

Jean Theodore Lompo

Fondacio manager in Ouagadougou

Above all, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Lord for having allowed me to live a wonderful experience at Fondacio and for having guided and supported me during these four years in the pastoral responsibility of the region of Ouagadougou. I lived this time in a sharing of fraternal love with all my brothers in Burkina Faso. I was very happy with everyone's support in this noble mission that the head of the National Council of Fondacio kindly entrusted to me. The task was certainly not easy, especially in a region like Ouagadougou where there are many requests. But, by the grace of God and the support of the brothers and sisters and in a total gift to Christ, the mission was accomplished. "I would like to thank the Lord for all his blessings. May his name be praised forever." Amen!

I only had one question since I was 12. What should I do for others? Invited to participate in the animation of the session of couple in 2008 in Léo, I met Fondacio after several pastoral engagements in various movements and I remained since, very grateful for the marvelous voyage which I made. In the quest to be able to act on my environment, I was able to create in 2013, with others, an association to help orphans and abandoned children. To date, we have enrolled twenty children in school in the province and quickly signed an agreement with an Italian association in the field of community health. More than 2,500 people living in poverty were taken care of. My vocation, nurtured since childhood, thus finds its full meaning and Fondacio has given me the tools to achieve it. Joining others in distress to make the journey with them, to accompany them and to restore their dignity and their hope is my only satisfaction in building a more humane and just world. I thank God for the profound transformation that I have undergone through the charism of Fondacio.

I met Fondacio in 1986 when I was still a student, I was looking for a direction for my life and my future. I can say that this meeting is one of the most wonderful. What impressed me a lot was the concern that the members have for each other through a spirituality that speaks well of the other. I realize today that I know myself better in my poverty and my wealth. I learned to accept myself to dare commitment and responsibility. To seek a unity of life built over time in my family, professional and social life. Having accepted the responsibility entrusted to me, I was able to experience the closeness between faith and responsibility; my faith has deepened. A great experience for my mission to raise young people who dare to commit to a more humane and fairer world in a desperate Africa.

Since 2008, the high school for the promotion of young people (LPJ) has been pursuing its educational mission in Fada N'Gourma, capital of the Eastern Region of Burkina Faso. It wants to offer young people effective training, make them the citizens of tomorrow and promote the development of human society. It offers college and BEPC preparation courses, day courses (LPJ) and evening courses (EPJ) for young people and adults who have dropped out of school. The LPJ wants to offer young people the keys to success: a culture of success with BEPC results above the national average each year, strong supervision with student support, cultural openness with a library available to students and activities throughout the year, and a sense of student responsibility in school life. Each year, 30 to 40 children from low-income families benefit from partial payment of their school fees. The college averages about 600 students per year. The EPJ, on the other hand, allows adults and young people to return to evening school at a lower cost, while working during the day. The EPJ thus prepares students for the BEPC exams. On average, 300 students per year take part in these evening classes.

In 2018, the Los Almendros library welcomed more than 850 children through its various activities, 150 adults and 500 families living near the site. Year after year, this beautiful project continues to grow!

Economic context

The country is marked by its isolation. Its logistics outlets include the ports of Abidjan (Ivory Coast, linked by rail with Ouagadougou) and Tema (Ghana). Its economy, very agricultural (30% of GDP, 80% of jobs) is dependent on rainfall.

In this regard, adaptation to climate change is a real challenge in which the country is a pioneer in Africa, as well as in renewable energies (Zagtouli solar power plant).

Gold and cotton generate nearly 95% of the country’s export earnings. It is mainly exported to Switzerland and South Africa. Burkina Faso remains one of the main cotton producers in Africa (4th place in 2018-2019).

Burkina Faso is engaged in a development effort supported by partners. The round table organized by the country in Paris in December 2016 was a success (12.7 billion euros in pledges of support). Foreign investments have been mobilised, in particular for the development of central infrastructures such as solar energy and the interconnection of networks, which will better supply populations and businesses.

The Doing Business index on the ease of doing business is stable (151 out of 190 in 2019). The country is a member of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA).
