Over time, Fondacio has expanded both in terms of target audiences (in addition to young people, leaders in society, couples and families, seniors, and people in precarious situations) and geographical location.
It did not take long to cross borders and develop on other continents: Latin America, Africa and Asia.
In Europe, Fondacio very quickly developed missions in Belgium, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, then in Romania in collaboration with the Orthodox Church in Sibiu and Bucharest. In Europe today, Fondacio's main locations are in France, Belgium, Romania and the United Kingdom.
Fondacio was born in 1974 in France, under the name of Communauté de Poitiers. In the spirit of the Second Vatican Council and as part of the "new communities" that emerged from the Charismatic Renewal, its raison d'être is the formation and evangelization of the younger generations.
At the end of the 1980s, the Institute of Formation Fondacio (IFF) was created in France and developed on a continental level (Belgium, Romania) until it became the IFF Europe, whose headquarters are in Angers (France) with an office in Louvain la Neuve (Belgium). IFF Europe, Angers (France), an associate centre of the Université Catholique de l'Ouest, offers several half-year or equivalent academic year programmes in L1, L2 and L3, and a 3-year Bachelor's degree.
In Belgium (Louvain la Neuve), two one-semester university programmes are offered, one on the threshold of student life, the other to engage successfully in professional life.
