Fondacio in Romania since 1993
The history of the AOLN Orthodox Association (Asociatia Ortodoxa pentru o Lume Nova) began in 1993, following contacts between the Fondacio Catholic and ecumenical community, Christians for the World and the Romanian Orthodox Church in Sibiu. Some young Romanian Orthodox organized a camp at the monastery of Brâncoveanu, at Sâmbăta in Sus, in the presence of 80 Belgian and Romanian youth aged 14 to 30 years old.
Subsequently, between 1994 and 1998, young Romanians participated in pastoral camps organized by Fondacio, christians for the world association in France.
In the summer of 1999, the first summer camp was organized under the name of Youth Forum and Hope at the Brâncoveanu Monastery, Sâmbăta in Sus, with the participation of 90 young Romanians, as well as French and Lebanese youth.
Since 1999, every summer, during the last week of July, the Youth and Hope Forum has been held at the Brancoveanu Monastery, Sâmbăta in Sus.
In April 2001, the "Orthodox Association for a New World" was legally established. In 2005, a second group was created in the capital Bucharest. In May 2013, the 4th International Congress of Fondacio took place at the monastery of Brâncoveanu, Sâmbăta in Sus, with the participation of nearly 180 people including 120 delegates from 4 continents and more than 20 countries. It was also the occasion to celebrate Fondacio's 40th anniversary.
