Last Tuesday, August 3, the Los Almendros Library welcomed 22 children for the first time in six months for an entertaining afternoon at the library in the park.
The participation amazed even the organizers themselves, who welcomed with open arms a varied age group, from three year olds accompanied by their mothers, to 14 year old teenagers who wanted to be part of this recreational encounter.
"We did not expect so many participants, so we had to divide the group in two and alternate the activities," said Pamela Avila, head of the Los Almendros Library.
The activity was regulated by a strict protocol of care, maintaining appropriate distances, the constant use of masks and washing hands with alcohol gel.
After such a long time without using the Fondacio grounds, the Los Almendros park was illuminated by the sight of the children running around.
The Library is a Fondacio project in partnership with the NGO Vidascopio, which composes its team together with foreign and local volunteers. This team has created an educational network in the sector, with which it works closely (Las Araucarias, Las Azucenas and Rayen Mahui kindergartens, Las Canteras Colleges, El Trigal and the Padre Hurtado Institute).
It is also linked to the municipal network of childhood and youth and the local health center, which is why it participates in fairs and cultural events or services several times a year (month of the book, fair of Women, of youth…).
In 2018, Los Almendros Library served more than 850 children through its various activities, 150 adults and 500 families living near the site. Year after year this beautiful project continues to grow!
