LPJ by Fondacio in Burkina Faso
Since 2008, the Lycée pour la Promotion des Jeunes (LPJ) has been pursuing its educational mission in Fada N'Gourma, the capital of the Eastern Region of Burkina Faso. It wants to offer young people effective training, to make them the citizens of tomorrow, and to promote the development of human society.
It offers middle school and BEPC preparation classes, both day classes (LPJ) and evening classes (EPJ) for young people and adults who have dropped out of school. The LPJ wants to offer young people keys to success: a culture of success with BEPC results that are above the national average each year, strong supervision with student support, cultural openness with a library available to students and activities throughout the year, and a sense of responsibility of students in the life of the school.
Every year, 30 to 40 children from low-income families benefit from partial payment of their school fees. The college has an average of about 600 students per year. The EPJ, on the other hand, allows adults and young people to return to evening school at a lower cost, while working during the day. The EPJ thus prepares students for the BEPC exams. An average of 300 students per year participate in these evening courses.
