Starting Mass of Young Lives Laos.

Communauté - JEUNESSE - SOLIDARITÉ

Another school year is coming to an end. Young Lives Laos graduates had a farewell Mass to bless them on their return to their communities. Towards a new way of life where they can apply what they have learned during their formation and their faith.

Mass was held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Vientiane on March 22, 2020. The mass was celebrated by Cardinal Louis Marie Ling Mangkhanekhoun (Apostolic Vicar of Vientiane) and Father Vimanphet Indavong (parish priest).

It was followed by a “Basi” ceremony: a cultural ritual of blessing for students and teachers. A simple program and a moment of fraternity were shared with few guests in accordance with health measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the small number of guests, the event was a very warm and intimate moment. We thank our partners who joined us at this event: the Daughters of Charity, as well as the Sisters of Charity, some of our key members and a priest from Thailand.

It was an opportunity for graduates to share their learning and express their gratitude to the people who helped them grow. A graduate said:

“I feel happy and proud of myself because now I can achieve one of my goals. This is the first step but it was a very significant step for me. I can see myself a lot that I have improved my knowledge well. And now too, I realize the power of friendship. It is very important for us to live together. »
