Saying goodbye to Suzanne and Baptiste: our civic services.

Community - TRAINING - YOUTH

Every year, Fondacio France welcomes civic service workers who dedicate a year of their lives to Fondacio! And every year, having to say goodbye to them is a beautiful moment, full of hope, memories but also a little sad for each person who spent a good time with them!

Baptiste:

From September to June, 10 months working for Fondacio.

I was excited to have the time to contribute to Fondacio, and now that my civic service is coming to an end, I am happy about this experience with you!

I already knew Fondacio well before coming, so I expected the warm atmosphere, the quality of relationships and the momentum that I felt throughout this year.

What I appreciated most was this quality of listening, of attention to others, specific to Fondacio.

The openness in discussions, your diversity of viewpoints, diversity of character, all in an environment that inspires confidence in the intelligence of the group, all this creates a climate that pushes me to open up, to grow for myself and for others.

There would still be a lot to say but if I had to keep one last thing from this year, it is the opportunity I had to propose, and to try new things, whether about ecology, or simply new tools. In summary, thank you all for this very good year despite the interruption of confinement, and I hope to be able to continue to put myself at the service of these great projects that Fondacio proposes, even if it will be more punctual!

Suzanne:

What to say…

This civic service experience was extraordinary for me, even life-saving.

I arrived as me, with my flaws, my preconceptions, and especially my fears. Fear of not being up to par, fear of not fitting in, fear of losing a year… But thanks to all of you, these fears quickly disappeared.

Each of you smiled at me, you trusted me.

I learned that the great difference in age and hierarchy does not prevent friendship, that a smile can save someone, that youth does not rhyme with incompetence, that doubt and error are possible and do not mean failure, that clothes do not make the man, that kindness must guide every action, that everyone has something interesting to teach others regardless of age, gender, origins, that the Lord forgives and will always let us come back, that we are self-sufficient and that everything else is a plus to be cherished as much as possible.

And you are part of that plus.

You, this magnificent site and all the activities that I was able to do there, I cherished you and I will do so again during these 3 weeks that I have left by your side.

Next year will surely be full of surprises and twists, but I am now approaching it with great serenity and joy.

I fully appreciate how lucky I was to meet you and to meet Fondacio at this time in my life. And believe me, I'm not going to leave anytime soon. You'll probably see my little face again next year, but as a volunteer this time. I'll end this long little text with one last word, the most important: THANK YOU!

And I wish you all a great summer, good luck and, in general, all the best.

With all my love, Suzanne.
