Fondacio Virtual Congress – June 25, 2024-

Activities - Community

On 25 June 2024, we took an important step forward by holding our Virtual Congress, as we had agreed at our last Congress in Lomé. This key moment marked not only the official launch of our Jubilee Year, celebrating 50 years of commitment to a more humane and just world, but also an opportunity to reflect together on the challenges ahead and chart new perspectives for the future.

50 Years of History, 50 Years of Commitment

As a united and diverse community, this year we celebrate 50 years of dedication to supporting young people, families, and vulnerable people. Our history is rich in initiatives and concrete actions that have transformed lives and brought hope where it was needed. Today, we further reaffirm our mission, and this jubilee year is the perfect opportunity.

We unveiled a 50th anniversary logo, a symbol of our unity in diversity, which will accompany us throughout this year of celebrations. Local and regional events will be organized, culminating in a major festival in May 2025 in France. Among the flagship initiatives, a youth forum in Benin and intergenerational meetings will strengthen ties within our global community. These highlights will be an opportunity for each of us to renew our commitment and prepare for the future together.

Childhood-Youth: Our Strategy for the Future

The future of our community is built by and for young people. At this congress, we presented our five-year strategy for Children and Youth, an area that is at the heart of our mission. Structured around three components – "Hope", "IMPULSO", and "FOCUS" – this strategy aims to support young people at every stage of their lives.

Integral Ecology: A New Way of Seeing and Inhabiting the Earth

Integral ecology is a priority for us, and this congress was an opportunity to redefine our approach in this area. We have developed a new way of seeing and inhabiting the world, responding to current environmental and social challenges.

These initiatives reflect our renewed commitment to care for our common home and to promote an integral ecology that deeply links the human and environmental dimensions.

Governance and Support: Strengthening Our Community

Governance is at the heart of our approach to continue growing together. During this congress, the co-presidency, having held their working week, highlighted five areas of work to strengthen the community alliance, enrich our economic model, and improve our communication, both internal and external.

We have also launched a team support program, designed to support the changes underway. This program, which will last six months, will include tailor-made training phases, remote support, and a final assessment. A new process for replacing members has been proposed, and it will be put to a vote at our next congress.

Forward to the Future

This virtual congress allowed us to take stock of our achievements, but above all it gave us new momentum for the future. In the coming weeks, we will distribute detailed documents on our Childhood Youth and Integral Ecology programs, and all our members will be invited to vote on the new governance proposals.

As we begin this Jubilee Year, we invite you all to take part in the celebrations and actively contribute to the mission that unites us. Together, we will continue to work for a more humane and just world, driven by the strength of our community.
