A Solidarity Christmas: A mission at the heart of Sô-Zounko

Christmas is synonymous with joy, sharing and family warmth. However, for many vulnerable children, this period can lack sparkle. This is why Fondacio Bénin created the "Sourire" project, an initiative aimed at offering a memorable Christmas to orphaned and destitute children in the lakeside town of Sô-Zounko.

Why this project?

In this region of Benin, children from modest families or without parents often experience Christmas as mere observers, unable to participate in the festivities. The "Sourire" project was designed to address this injustice and offer these children a unique opportunity to experience a celebration filled with joy and hope.

Three days of celebration and fulfillment

For three days, more than 50 children aged 5 to 12 took part in rich and varied festive activities:

  • Singing, dancing and beauty pageant competitions: moments of artistic expression where each child was able to show off their talents.
  • Party Kit Distribution: Each child received a gift, bringing a genuine smile to their face.
  • Games and activities: laughter and moments of sharing which strengthened the bonds between the participants.

A lasting impact for children and the community

The "Smile" project provided much more than just moments of entertainment:

  • The children rediscovered the joy of Christmas and unforgettable memories.
  • They were able to develop their creativity, self-confidence and community spirit.
  • Parents and the community expressed their gratitude for this initiative which touched their hearts.

A success thanks to solidarity

The success of this event is based on the support of partners, volunteers and all those who contributed, directly or indirectly, to this wonderful adventure.

The "Smile" project reflects Fondacio Benin's commitment to creating a more just and humane world, where every child can flourish fully.

Christmas in Sô-Zounko proved that a small gesture can brighten a life. Let's continue to bring joy where it is most needed.
