Nos engagements
The protection of individuals is a fundamental priority for Fondacio. Abuses have been committed in its history, notably by its founder before 1991. Fondacio acknowledges these abuses, unequivocally condemns all forms of abuse—sexual, spiritual, power, or control—and is committed to protecting those involved in the life of the movement, wherever it may be present.
The reforms undertaken
Since 2019, a process of truth and protection of people.
Prevention: what is in place
Prevention is integrated into all our activities, particularly those involving children and young people. It is primarily based on the ethical charter and the support charter, approved by the Fondacio Congress in June 2026 and applicable to all members in all countries. These charters complement the association's statutes and commit everyone to preventing abuse, protecting individuals, and fostering a culture of responsibility, transparency, and vigilance.
The Ethical Charter defines the principles that govern our relationships and actions within the community. Its pillar on "preventing abuse and situations of control" requires each country to appoint a protection officer, train members, clarify everyone's roles, and support those in positions of responsibility, in order to prevent situations of control. → Download the charter (PDF)
Download the charter (PDF)The Charter for Accompaniment governs personal and spiritual accompaniment. It guarantees that accompaniers are trained and supervised, that confidentiality and boundaries are respected, that individuals are protected, and that vigilance is heightened regarding asymmetrical relationships. Accompaniment is clearly distinguished from governance. → Download the charter (PDF)

Listening and reporting mechanisms → I report
Training for supervisors and activity leaders. For each trip involving minors, the adults working with the young people receive training before the trip—covering appropriate behavior, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and legal guidelines—they undergo administrative checks specific to the country they are visiting, and they sign a code of ethics. The trip directors, trained in their responsibilities, are responsible for the physical and emotional safety of the young people.
Specific rules for the stays: never an adult alone with a young person in an enclosed space, rooms must be supervised by counselors of the same sex, and there is no contact with the young people after the stay. Individual support sessions between an adult and a young person take place in a location visible to everyone.
A person protection officer in each country. In each country where Fondacio operates, a person protection officer is being appointed. Their role is to ensure that the measures taken to protect and care for individuals are properly integrated and implemented, to offer appropriate training, and to monitor the application of best practices.
Alert protocols for adults are being drafted at all levels; they will be published as soon as they are adopted.
In cases of concern, the response is tailored to each situation: depending on the facts identified, Fondacio collaborates with the necessary competent authorities and the families. Staff remain available after each stay to speak with families.
