Two organizations at the service of a standing Africa.
Sichem / AGRO-DR helps its members to take charge of their own lives in order to set an example and promote development in rural areas.
The rural environment in Togo is facing major difficulties, due in particular to the use of rudimentary production methods, without regard for environmental pollution. This causes a massive rural exodus of young adults, those who remain are not inclined to engage in agricultural activity. It is necessary to train young farmers, in order to encourage them to stay in the village and more generally to revitalize rural areas that now provide great development opportunities.
Encourage initiatives for economic development in the perspective of an harmonious and sustainable human development.
Our objective is to emphasize the community development of village communities by promoting the establishment of VDCs (Village Development Committees) and a sector-based approach, and to contribute through vocational training to the retention of young adults in their villages by enabling them to participate in their development.
Provide a formation and a theoretical and technical support with the implementation of formations and apprenticeships in different fields: carpentry and masonry, agricultural training, sewing.
Sichem is divided into 5 sectors: reception, construction, education, village and sectors animation, animal and plant production.
A reception centre and experimental laboratory for the implementation of new productions in villages and as well as a personal guidance, Sichem is also active in the field of education.
The education sector has created two libraries and is involved in capacity building for teachers.
Since 2011, agricultural training has been implemented in partnership with BRACRU-Togo and FAIEJ (Fonds d'Appui aux Initiatives Economiques des Jeunes - Support Fund for Youth Economic Initiatives). In 2015, a longer 9-month training course is being implemented in partnership with IFF Africa and BRACRU-Togo focusing on agricultural entrepreneurship.
Sichem has a great capacity for autonomy thanks to income-generating activities: construction activities, sale of processed products, reception. With the launch of the new training in agricultural entrepreneurship, the centre can still develop new activities and sectors and position itself as a reference center in the social entrepreneurship sector in rural areas.
