Valentine's Day: How to Celebrate During the Covid Crisis

COUPLES AND FAMILIES

Valentine's Day 2021 might be a little different than what we're used to. In this short article, you'll find tips to make this day awesome (maybe even better than the previous ones!).

So here's your chance to get creative with your Valentine's Day activities to make this February 14th the most memorable ever!

  • Take an online cooking class and prepare your own meal

Do you usually have a nice gourmet meal at a restaurant for Valentine's Day? Check out your favorite recipes online, go to the grocery store with your partner, and start cooking!

If you don't feel like cooking a full meal, you have several options:

  • Order takeaway

If you don’t like to cook or would rather relax than cook, you can support a local business by ordering directly. Order all your favorite dishes from a local establishment, enjoy a glass of wine with your sweetheart, and wait for your meal to arrive.

  • Making cakes for two

Even if you don't want to cook an entire dinner, you can make a small dessert: Find a simple recipe online or in your favorite cookbook to make a dessert you'd like to make together. Even melting chocolate chips in a bowl and dipping fresh fruit in it can be delicious and romantic.

  • Organize a romantic picnic indoors

Lay out what you cooked, baked or ordered on the living room floor and a bottle of wine/bubbles/or whatever beverage you like. Make sure to set the scene with a nice picnic blanket and prepare a basket, if you have a fireplace, even better!

  • Create cocktails together

Experiment with your mixology skills and learn how to create your favorite cocktails or prepare new mixes! There are many recipes and tutorials online to guide you in this experience.

  • Take a virtual tour

The Covid crisis and social distancing rules may have made it harder to travel, visit museums, ballets or even operas. Luckily for you, many of these places have decided to offer virtual museum tours, many plays have been live streamed and are available online, dance performances are also available. Search online for virtual museum tours, opera tours, art galleries for a cultural date night!

  • Plan a board game night

If you want to have a great evening with your partner, take out your favorite board games from the closet and have a fun time!

  • Have a romantic movie night

For a more casual Valentine's Day as a couple, you can each choose a movie and watch them together. Don't forget the popcorn and your favorite snacks!

  • Spa Day at Home

Why not bring the spa to your home? Pamper yourself at home. Treat yourself to massages with anti-stress oils, relax with hydrating masks. Take care of yourself!

  • Write a love letter

As this year we cannot see our loved ones as often as usual, a simple but effective solution to put a smile on their face is to write and send a letter by post.
It’s a meaningful way to express to someone you love how much you miss them, to show them your love during these difficult times. It’s an especially good idea for grandparents or family members you haven’t been able to see, we all need a little love this Valentine’s Day.
